Another historical fiction picture book, Keeper of the Light tells the story of an eleven year old girl in the 1920s who works with The Mosher family tending a lighthouse on a Nova Scotian island. The story is based on the real experiences of young girls and boys who worked at lighthouses in the early 1900s. A beautifully written story full of atmosphere, weather, and tenderness. When I read the manuscript, I immediately thought of Winslow Homer, whose depictions of sea, sky and light were a huge inspiration. Launches October 1, 2016.
