There was a great big snow storm in Newfoundland yesterday
(“great big” for a Torontonian)
and when the power finally came back
I still didn’t know what to do with myself because the internet was down
and I thought that was silly, with a house full of art supplies
so I laid out all my drawings for my children’s illustration portfolio (still in the works)
and found this, which was drawn at the kitchen table in the Little Yellow House
in Duntara, Newfoundland back in September. The beginning of it all.
So I sprawled out on the floor like I did when I was five,
and I painted it and lost track of time.
It was nice.

What a great image of you doing that. And these characters are excellent! I love them all but especially the mom and the boy and the way he’s holding her finger but also ready to check something out…
They all say something. They’re all so good. I’m just in awe.
